Need for a peaceful way to get Gaia spirit

Hi, while the Gaia Guardian is fun for people to look cool on videos, it is a really bad thing for others not having fun at all killing bosses and failing each, each, each and every time they try. I've been at this for hours without success. Although the Gaia arena is well-formed, the boss doesn't spawn anymore. It spawned twice yesterday but killed me, and now without any change to the arena, it won't spawn, pretending there are holes on the ground or blocks obstructing the area, but it is NOT the case. Even with a good armor such as Terrasteel or Unobtainium (in All the Mods), the boss kills me in a couple of shots. I imagine there is a special trick to defeat it, something people get by checking videos and following along. This is not correct, this is very frustrating for people not able to follow along these videos that just go too quick. Trying to slay the boss with a sword (an Allthemodium weapon in my case) is to no avail as the boss disappears each time I move close to it. Bows are supposed to hit it, but seems bows are ineffective for me, in many different packs. I shoot the target and that does almost no damage. I tried with the Archangel's Smite from Project E and the boss kills me before I have time to check if that does any damage. I know this is not the usual experience, for most people this just works. Maybe that works only with Botania weapons and armors or MythicBotany included in the pack messed up with the mechanics? Best would be to have an alternative mechanic to get the Gaia spirit in some way, maybe some villager trades, some ritual, something that would possibly be involved of course because these should not be simple to obtain.

Such rants are fully unhelpful. Please refrain from doing that.

Is your armor enchanted? Most of the damage it deals is by giving you the Wither effect, so unless you have Protection or something that stops magic damage (like the inhalation purification upgrade on the mekasuit) your armor isn't gonna help much.

endoflame One of the Unobtainium armor piece gives protection against Wither damage, and I had protection at least IV on most pieces.

As for the fight itself, it is doable with top tier enchanted vanilla and Botania gear itself. Don't overthink it.

Some misc tips:

The boss teleports at a regular pace. Grasp the timing and go for melee attacks when it's open
Bows work on the boss. No guarantees about crappy modded weapons.
Prepare and use Botania brews. Strength, fire resistance, regeneration are the most helpful.
Use easy difficulty if necessary.

During testing many times over the past 5 years I have beat the boss with just vanilla enchanted diamond gear + bow, so it's well within reach. Best of luck.

Dunno if they fixed it but atm armor used to be so bugged that it didn't even give any armor protection.
I've seen people using the mob crusher(? from Industrial Foregoing to kill the GoG, you could try with that

I'm unfamiliar with the Unobtainium armor, but if it merely gives protection (similar to Fire Protection), it will add up with the regular Protection enchantment for a maximum of 80% damage reduction from armor enchantments. As mentioned above already, most of the damage in the Gaia fight is of magical nature, so the amount or type of armor won't make a difference except for these enchantment effects.
To further boost the damage reduction you will need to use the Resistance effect, which applies to whatever damage is left after armor and Protection effects. Each level of Resistance (whether it originates from a beacon, Botania brew, or other source) provides 20% damage reduction against almost everything.

Contrary to popular believe, the Gaia fight does not explicitly disable beacon effects. Extend the arena's beacon base downwards to make it a valid level 4 beacon and you can have it apply Resistance 2 or Resistance 1 + Regeneration 1.

Partonetrain

My go-to for Gaia 1 is fully enchanted Elementium armor (pixies help I find), an enchanted Terra Blade, and 3-4 brews in my hotbar. I also tend to (cheating) have Vanilla's debug hitbox display on since I personally find the Wither spots on the ground too subtle.

And I know this isn't exactly what you're asking for, and I wouldn't recommend it, but you could always add a recipe or villager trade or something yourself with CraftTweaker or similar. I think ATM uses KubeJS which I am not familiar with but I imagine it is capable of creating a sufficiently difficult way to obtain Gaia Spirits.
