Question - When was the Backpack added?

This is mostly for a modpack im trying to make, and a past experience where having another "backpack" mod just borked the game*. it was certainly NOT added with the 1.20.1 release, so maybe im just confused. I really like the mod's sorting system and i have been using it ever since i could mod minecraft and im not giving that up over one item (which i'd gladly remove out of my Jar file, IF. i knew how to do that.

*Back then i asked the Other mod's author what happened (traveler's backpacks FYI) and for them it worked? maybe im just getting hung up on the wrong thing, but i'll just make this new modpack and warn you if THAT gives me any problems XD

how do i remove it entirely from the 1.20.1 version if it breaks something with other backpack mods

Edit the quark-common.toml config file and set "backpack" to false under oddities, if you want to do it in game, you can click the 'q' button in the main screen -> oddities -> backpack and restart the game
