After a ton of work from the team fixing all sorts of issues - Quark 1.20.1 is now moving out of Alpha, and into Beta.
If this is your first look at Quark in 1.20.1, please read the Preview post before reading this one.
To our knowledge, this version fixes every single known bug that came with the version update-- we believe this version is stable enough to use in a survival world you want to play with, but we still advise lots of care and backups in case something breaks.
Regarding mod compatibility with existing mods on 1.20.1: Any mods that provide code-level Quark compatibility and have yet to update to Quark's new namespace will crash on loading. This is because we have moved every file around in the transition to the new loading system. If you have any mods that need updating, please kindly ask the authors in question to checkout the Quark zeta120
branch for details.
What's New
- Added a backported version of the Crafter from 1.21
- This feature was implemented by Emi for a standalone test mod she made to play around with and didn't want to release.
- This mod was made before the Crafter was available in a snapshot at all, so some features will differ.
- We asked for the code for it to add to Quark so it wouldn't go to waste and Emi was kind enough to let us use it, thank you Emi!
- A config option is included to change the stacking logic to Emi's original design of a max 1 item per slot. This drastically changes how you use the block, so I opted to include the Mojang logic by default, but give this one a try too.
- Rune items have been removed, and replaced with a "Runic" Smithing Template (pictured)
- Combine the Runic template with any dye for the color rune effect
- Combine the Runic template with Blaze Powder for the rainbow rune effect
- Apply the Runic template with no additional items for the blank rune effect
- Texture is WIP
- Quark's Tuff blocks now use the 1.21 textures
- One of the textures was purposely left behind for internal consistency with Quark features
- Right clicking an Armor Stand with both hands empty while wearing a Backpack moves the Backpack to the Armor Stand. (even if there's items inside)
- Chutes can now drop items through Hollow Logs.
- Dispensers can now shoot Torch Arrows.
- Pitcher Plants can now be placed in Flower Pots.
Fixes
- Fixed "Gold Tools Have Fortune" not making gold tools have fortune.
- Fixed Backpack and Forgotten Hat not being equippable with right mouse button.
- Fixed Corundum Lamps not being mineable.
- Fixed Crate not having the chest interaction buttons.
- Fixed double-clicking anywhere in a chest screen clearing the search bar.
- Fixed dropped backpack with items spilled out still showing the lock icon.
- Fixed Forgotten Hat having 2 identical reach indicators (one for each Forge reach attribute).
- Fixed holding a bow in creative glitching out the Usage Ticker.
- Fixed inability to put 1.20 seeds in the Seed Pouch.
- Fixed Map tooltips not rendering.
- Fixed Matrix Enchanting generating pieces you can't actually apply to the tool you're enchanting.
- Fixed missing Hotbar Changer texture.
- Fixed more cases of blocks being missing from creative tabs (and therefore JEI).
- Fixed more cases of blocks not having their correct mining tool.
- Fixed Multishot crossbows duplicating torch arrows.
- Fixed our LivingDeath and ItemTooltip events not firing (had various effects).
- Fixed pickarang damage sources.
- Fixed pickarangs being able to break reinforced deepslate.
- Fixed potion attributes not appearing on items.
- Fixed Rune colors not being applied to armor worn on your player/an armor stand.
- Fixed Shibas getting stuck trying to pick up arrows fired from an Infinity bow (...!)
- Fixed sideways Stripped Cherry Posts having the Stripped Bamboo Post model due to a copy-paste error.
- Fixed stacked Fence Gates not opening in tandem.
- Fixed stonelings getting damaged by projectiles.
- Fixed stronghold libraries having too many ancient tomes.
- Fixed the Backpack screen not having the sort button.
- Fixed the Feeding Trough not attracting Brain system mobs, like the Sniffer, Goat, Frog etc.
- Fixed the q button being misplaced, and the "q button on right" option making it more misplaced.
- Fixed Tiny Potato being equippable in any slot. Too OP.
- Simplified SimpleHarvestModule code, fixing a crash with Farmer's Delight.
- Tried to fix Permafrost replacing blocks other than overworld stones.
- Tried to fix Permafrost worldgen performance. It'll generate in smaller blobs now too. It's still slow.

Once again, a massive thank you to the Zeta/Quark team for putting this together. I'm still mainly taking a supervisor role here as described in the previous post.
We still don't have any timeline in mind for a public milestone, as it very much depends on how much time everyone has available starting from now. I hope it's understandable that the pace will be slower through the holidays.
