I was shocked to see the subreddit gone... Anyway:
I'm back to Botania and got absorbed into designing something cool with the limited early technology, that's still self-sustaining, efficient, and "future proof". Maybe it'll inspire some of you to... linger a bit in the early stages, instead of rushing through the elven portal, the end and so on.
Basic Tree Farm for some wood - before you get to the Nether

Just needs a little lapis, a slime ball, iron and redstone. Anything is better than chopping trees tbh

Single Module - post Nether

Needs quartz for the Observers and a Fire Rune for the Agricarnations, but ultimately just a little more elegant.

Upgraded to 4 trees + Mana

Just added 3 more modules with a little bit of mana distribution, relocated the hopperhock and Rannuncarpus, and added Exoflames and Endoflames. Solid early mana gen. 🙂

Full Size 16x Tree farm

Needs a lot of mana spreaders, but with the wood and mana the previous iteration provides that shouldn't be a problem. Added a Munchdew in the middle, and the 12 additional modules. Just more trees, more exoflames, more endoflames.
This uses the ranges of Rannuncarpus and Hopperhock to its fullest, and building it any bigger doesn't make any sense, because it's already difficult to manage all the mana output. Mana splitter is like a mini-battery.
This produces ~ 4.8 Mana Pools/h and a slight surplus of wood and saplings 🙂
